Immunological tests are biochemical type tests. They measure the presence/concentration of macromolecules or small molecules using antibodies or antigens; the first method being much more common. The molecules detected with these tests are often called analytes, and these are often proteins, but it can be also other types of molecules, depending on the specific test. Analytes are often measured for medical and research purposes in substances such as urine or serum.
